The Children's and Teens' Quilts on this page were made for various ages (babies to teens), and are quilts that fall outside of my Bunny, Animal, and Train and Vehicle Quilt themes.
Proceeds from these quilts support such organizations as: The House of Ruth, a shelter in Washington, DC for women and children who are victims of domestic violence; Girls, Inc., which provides programs for girls of all ages across the U.S. and Canada; or the well-known Girl Scouts of the USA (www.girlscouts.org). Most of these quilts can be reproduced or made similarly to the pictures, customized in different colors, styles, and layouts according to your specifications. This quilt is entitled "Hawaiian Delight" and features wonderful tropical fabrics on both the front and back. It measures 38 X 48 and was made to order as a baby quilt for customers who had lived in Hawaii.
The quilt below is entitled "My Favorite Things" and was made for the House of Ruth in Washington, DC for their recently refurbished children's playroom. It is known as an "I Spy" quilt because it is designed to keep kids searching it for hours, looking for their favorite things. The quilt has a white backing and measures 58 X 72. A second similar quilt also is pictured below, made for the office of a children's advocacy program.
The quilt below, entitled "Robot Parade," is one of a matched set made for two little boys sharing a room. The fabrics all contain robot, space ship, or circuitry motifs, and the squares form diagonal zigzags of robots marching across the quilt. It has a flannel backing with -- you guessed it -- more robots! The quilts were sized for new "big boy" beds at 60 X 90.
The quilt below, entitled "Stellar Stars," was made as a crib/baby/nursery quilt to welcome a new baby. I decided to make this bright, cheery version of a star quilt before I knew that the baby's name would be Stella -- what a delightful coincidence! The stars are predominantly pink and purple and the yellow background fabric is covered with small stars. The quilt has a yellow backing, and measures 36 X 48.
The quilt below (untitled) was intended to be a "grown-up" teddy bear quilt, given to an adult who needed some teddy bear comfort. It features two very British-looking teddy bear fabrics, so I used lots of deep red, royal blue, and forest green in the quilt. It has a beige backing and measures 48 X 64. The second teddy bear quilt below (small bears in frames) is a doll quilt I made using scraps from the first project and shows another way to showcase the teddy bear fabrics. It measures 20 X 28 and also could be used as a small wall quilt.
The quilt below is entitled "Garden Fairies" and features an adorable theme fabric with simple patchwork and borders. It has a green print backing and measures 36 X 46.
The quilts below (untitled) were made as a coordinating set for twin girls whose room was decorated in purple and yellow. The quilts use the same fabrics but shift the dominance from yellow to purple (both have a yellow backing). They measure 40 X 52.
The quilt below, entitled "Pink and Purple Princesses," was made for a little girl completely besotted by Disney princesses and the colors purple and pink! I fused princess appliques into framed squares, which are interspersed with pink and purple patchwork, and it has backing. It measures 44 x 51 and makes a perfect topper for her youth bed.
The quilt below, entitled "Rainbow Alphabet" was made for the office of a children's advocacy program. It is made of brightly dyed fabrics and small prints, with cute alphabet appliques. It has a yellow backing and measures 40 X 66.
